Join us on Thursday, February 12, 4:30-6 p.m. for a faculty seminar, “How does alcohol availability affect our communities and what can we do about it?” featuring Traci Toomey, director of the alcohol epidemiology program at the U of M School of Public Health.
Alcohol is a leading cause of injuries, deaths and other societal problems and is costing us countless dollars. Yet it is often unpopular to discuss placing controls on it. During the presentation, Toomey will address this very real and relevant topic and provide insight into alcohol availability and its connection with alcohol consumption-related problems. She will discuss strategies to prevent alcohol-related issues as well as ways we can implement them in our communities.
This seminar is the first event in a series hosted by the School of Public Health that provides opportunities for our innovative faculty to share their important research. The presentation and discussion will begin at 4:30p.m., with a networking reception to follow.
