Career Resources

The Office of Alumni Relations and the Career & Professional Development Center at the School of Public Health partner to provide career services to our alumni free of charge.

Alumni can continue accessing School of Public Health Career Services through a UMN-associated Canvas account — our online platform for career tools and resources.

To set up long-term access:

  1. Create a Canvas Guest Account
    Visit the create a guest account page and follow the prompts.
  2. Email Career Services
    Send your full name, SPH program, graduation year, and the email used for your Canvas guest account to sphcareers@umn.edu.
  3. Get Access
    Once we receive your email, the SPH Career Services team will add you to the alumni access list. You’ll receive a Canvas invitation by email.

Appointments are available on a limited basis for individualized coaching for SPH alumni. We can help you with:

  • Resumes, cover letters and curriculum vitae assistance
  • Networking
  • Job Searching
  • Interviewing
  • Salary Negotiation

The SPH Summer Public Health Institute is a great way for SPH alumni to build or refine expertise, broaden career options, and network with other public health professionals and students. Classes are taught by faculty or experts in the field, are roughly a week in length, and all courses are eligible for CPH recertification.

As a School of Public Health alumni, you automatically have access to the Handshake Career Management Platform for life. To activate your account, follow these steps for alumni.  Be sure to complete your profile and update your career interests to receive relevant job posting recommendations.
