The Maternal & Child Health MPH program is enhanced by the Center for Leadership Education in Maternal and Child Public Health, one of thirteen HRSA-funded Centers of Excellence housed at schools of public health across the US. The Center has been funded for over 65 years, allowing Center staff, faculty, and students to provide rich professional education opportunities and technical assistance (TA) to those in the MCH field. 

The Center frequently responds to TA requests–and seeks out opportunities–for MCH students to be deployed to a state agency or nonprofit. Paid deployments (1) provide MCH students with experience working in an MCH or public health agency or organization, (2) build the capacity of the organization or agency that students are deployed to, and (3) support  organizations/agencies providing programs ​​that serve and support ​maternal and child health ​populations​, especially vulnerable​ populations​. 

The Center also offers: 

• three active electronic newsletters (one for enrolled MCH students; one with general maternal, child, and family health content; and one with justice-involved women and children content)
• the bi-annual Minnesota Women’s Health Report Card publication (compiled with the assistance of MCH students in the PubH 6630 course); 
• the Bright Spots Qualitative Mini-Lab trainings; 
• a Skills Leaders Institute; 
• an award-winning MCH student group; 
• monthly Student and Alumni Spotlight features;
• a national MCH blog; and
• Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts.
