I returned to the University of Minnesota as a postdoc at age 50. One of my classes required up-to-date experience with statistical programming, which I didn’t have. My lab partner didn’t show up for class once and it wasn’t long before I fell behind.
I overheard two young women classmates behind me whisper, “Oh oh, grandpa’s in trouble.” One of them jumped in next to me and quickly got me back on track. I was grateful for the help, and from then on I knew my code name. It was a terrific cohort.
