Community Engagement
All occupational hygiene MS students are required to participate in a field experience, which provides an opportunity to learn first-hand about an organization and its operations. Typical field experiences offer a variety of activities ‒ a mixture of office and field work ‒ that fully encompass the responsibilities of an occupational hygienist. Many of these field experiences are paid internships.
Recent field experiences for occupational hygiene students have occurred at locations such as 3M Company, Pace Analytical, Cummins Engines, the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and the University of Minnesota’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety.
