“I chose public health because I have always been interested in helping people.

I originally intended to be a nurse. However, I found that health care administration — a vital part of public health — was better suited to my skills and interests and allows me to help improve the lives of many people every day.
I particularly like how public health focuses on the social determinants of health and goes upstream to solve problems. Working upstream to address access and cost are two particular aspects of health care that I am passionate about. If people have increased access to affordable care, we can dramatically improve the health and well-being of the nation.”
