Ageism is widespread and many polls suggest that a significant portion of the population has experienced or witnessed ageism in different settings. Yet, negative stereotypes about older workers persist and result in a variety of negative consequences in reduced job opportunities, lower wages, poorer health outcomes and reduced quality of life. We need action and solutions to address this persistent inequality.
This event features a presentation from Dr. Tracey Gendron, who serves as Chair for the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Gerontology, as Director for the Virginia Center on Aging and is the author of the book Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session featuring an esteemed panel of national and local experts who are making a difference daily in their communities.
