This webinar will share the findings of two research studies from the HRSA and CDC funded Public Health Workforce Research Center, addressing national-level issues around public health workforce composition, roles, recruitment, retention, and implementation science.
Presentation #1 from Jonathon P. Leider, PhD: Exploring the Geospatial Variations in the Public Health Workforce: Implications for Diversifying the Supply of Potential Workers in Governmental Settings
Dr. Leider and a team of researchers used quantitative methods to characterize the ‘supply’ of potential public health graduates across the US in relation to health department workforce ‘demand,’ distinguishing deficits or excesses and rates of ‘conversion’ of public health graduates to employees.
Presentation #2 from Janette Dill, PhD: Retention of Community Health Workers in the Public Health Workforce
Researchers used an explanatory mixed-methods approach in this study, primarily quantitative, to measure and understand the use of community health workers and other community-based occupations in health departments across the US; this approach leverages quantitative analysis of PH WINS data to inform focus group design.
Audience for this event: SPH faculty, public health practitioners and partner organizations who would benefit from the research findings
