Wednesday, January 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST
Wednesday, January 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST
This webinar will share the findings of two research studies from the HRSA and CDC funded Public Health Workforce Research Center, addressing national-level issues around public health workforce composition, roles, recruitment, retention, and implementation science.
Presentation #1 is from Kate Beatty, PhD, MPH: Exploring the Use of Career Ladders to Recruit and Retain a Diverse Public Health Workforce.
Researchers used an explanatory mixed-methods approach to identify LHDs that have or are planning to implement career ladders for their public health workforce; they explored how career ladders promote the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce, and investigated strategies for effective implementation of career ladders.
Presentation #2 is from Valerie A. Yeager, DrPH, MPhil: Workforce Development Plans of Accredited Public Health Departments: What’s Included?
Dr. Yeager and team used novel qualitative methods to review health department workforce development plans submitted to the Public Health Accreditation Board to identify workforce gaps (e.g., diversity or equity of workforce) and describe strategies to address those gaps.
