Join us for a discussion on the health, safety, and wellbeing of migrant farmworkers in the United States.
The 2025 Susan Goodwin Gerberich (SGG) Symposium will be held Monday, April 28 from 1-3pm in Mayo Memorial Auditorium. The event will feature a student research poster session, followed by a keynote presentation and Q&A with Dr. Seth M. Holmes, Chancellor’s Professor in Environmental Science, Policy and Management, University of California Berkeley.
This year’s topic is “Food Systems and Worker Health: The Roles of Health Systems and Communities”. Dr. Seth Holmes will analyze the ways in which health and health care inequalities come to be understood as normal, and how recent social movements work to improve the health of migrant agricultural workers. In this talk, he will share the results of years of in-depth research and recommendations for the future.
The SGG Symposium is co-sponsored by the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety (MCOHS) Education and Research Center and the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH).
