Day 38: In Support of Incarcerated Mothers

We are grateful for alumni like Rebecca Shlafer, PhD, MPH ’16, who make life better for women and children. Minnesota’s new Healthy Start Act allows incarcerated pregnant women to serve their sentence in an alternative setting after birth and spend up to a year with their child. Shlafer (right in photo) was essential to the passage of this historic legislation as were people like Autumn Mason (left in photo) who contributed personal testimonies.
