Research by HSRP&A PhD student, Marc Vacquier, suggests that the herpes zoster vaccine may benefit patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Without the vaccination, the risk for herpes zoster (commonly known as shingles) in patients with RA is approximately double that of the general population. Vacquier’s findings were published in Value-Based Care in Rheumatology after he presented his research at the Society for Medical Decision Making’s 36th Annual North American meeting, Oct. 2014.
