The Division of Health Policy and Management welcomes Joseph Gaugler, PhD, as the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care (LTC) and Aging beginning May 14, 2018. Gaugler served as a National Institute on Aging postdoctoral fellow with Professors Robert and Rosalie Kane and is an active collaborator with several faculty and staff in the division on both the research and educational fronts. He comes from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing where he was a professor of long term care.
Gaugler’s research interests include the sources and effectiveness of long-term care for older adults with dementia and the effectiveness of community-based and psychosocial services for older adults with memory concerns and their caregiving families. He holds a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Gerontology from Pennsylvania State University.
