Driven to Improve Health Care

Jake Staley completed his MHA summer residency at Providence St. Joseph Health St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana, and will begin an administrative fellowship at Regional Health in Rapid City, South Dakota in June, 2018.

Health Care Systems

“I decided to pursue public health because I want to help improve health care systems. Specifically, I want to make health care systems more successful at enabling people to live healthy lives.”

Patient Experience

“There are serious challenges with health care delivery in the U.S. and throughout the world. One shortcoming is insufficient prioritization of the patient experience. I provide support for a chronically ill family member while he receives medical care and it has increased my commitment to improve the patient experience. I believe patient experience is a crucial component of the healing process, and I am driven to improve the experience that patients have in their time of vulnerability.”

Work Environment

“I am also determined to improve the use of health care resources and the lives of health care professionals. Many aspects of our health care system cause burnout and unhappiness in physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. I want to improve the work environment for individuals who choose to serve others through clinical professions.”
