MHA Community Stewardship Initiative continues to serve the Twin Cities under the leadership of Kate Jensen (‘15). This student-driven volunteer organization was formed in 2011 by MHA students to provide community service work to local residents in need and aid students in their development as compassionate leaders.  This year Kate Jensen (’15) leads CSI as chair of the organization.

Last year, CSI volunteers logged over 295 volunteer hours. CSI continued to build and strengthen its relationship with three community service organization including Second Harvest Heartland, Lyngblomsten and the Ronald McDonald House.

Two of the student’s favorite projects included cooking dinner for families at the Ronald McDonald House and sorting and packing five-pound bags of potatoes at Second Harvest Heartland. Last fall, CSI volunteers hosted a canned food drive, and collected over 300 pounds of food. In the spring of 2014, CSI hosted their first ever winter clothing drive for local families and received over 60 articles of clothing for donation.
