As we close out the fall semester, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievements and collective efforts that have defined these past few months. Despite the challenges posed by the global landscape, I am immensely proud of what you, our students, faculty, and staff have done — and continue to do every day — to advance our school’s mission.
Our students have shown remarkable perseverance in their academic training, embracing innovative approaches to learning and engaging with the material in ways that reflect their passion for public health. Your dedication to acquiring knowledge and skills that will make a positive impact on the health of individuals and communities is truly commendable.
Thanks to the hard work of faculty and staff, we received 300 grant awards this year representing $100.3 million, distributed $1.7 million in scholarship funds to 298 students, and appeared everywhere in the media this year, adding context and clarity to current issues such as structural racism, the impacts of opioid use, and our aging population. Your creativity, devotion, and adaptability have been the driving force behind maintaining the high standards of education and research that define our institution.
During the upcoming break, let us celebrate the successes of the past semester and recharge for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead in the spring.
Looking forward, I am confident that the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to public health will continue to guide us through the evolving landscape. I wish each member of our School of Public Health community a restful and joyful winter break.
Warm regards,
Tim Beebe
