Kenneth Jones (MHA ’03) is the president of AMITA Health St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL. He is currently serves as the vice chair of the MHA Alumni Association/Foundation (AA/F). Over the years, he has enjoyed mentoring and connecting with MHA students. He has assisted with previous CASE competition teams as part of the National Association for Health Service Executives (NAHSE).
What is your favorite part of volunteering with the MHA Program and its Alumni Association/Foundation?
I enjoy helping to shape the future of the MHA program through my volunteer work, including serving as the Vice Chair on the MHA Alumni Association/Foundation. I enjoy hearing about the top notch students that are in the program and the exciting work that they are doing. It brings me comfort to know that the future of healthcare is in good hands!
Why did you decide to start volunteering?
I have benefited personally and professionally through the MHA program and this is my opportunity to give back. It is important to stay connected to the program that helped shape my career in such a positive way. I also believe I can utilize my skill set and acumen to help shape the future direction of the MHA program.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering with the MHA Program and the AA/F?
There is a role each alum can play in giving back and contributing to the program and the AA/F. Find out what the opportunities are and jump into an opportunity that’s right for you. Collectively, we can contribute to our program’s high national rankings and reputation.
What advice would you offer to your fellow alums?
We all go through various stages of our personal and professional careers. Each stage offers challenges on time and commitment. Fortunately, the MHA AA/F and Program offers diverse experiences for alumni to choose how to engage and give back. One of the cornerstones of our program is the strong alumni base that we must be purposeful in maintaining!
